I would like to know more about this Thomas England, especially the years before he came to Illinois. Any information is appreciated. --Regina

In 1819 Thomas England, the elder, moved his family to Lawrence County [Illinois] and settled in Dennison Township, where he bought fifty-five acres of land from a man by the name of Warden. He cleared off a part of this land, built on it a log house, in which the family lived for a time. In 1844 he went to Georgia with some of his children , but later returned to Lawrence County, where he died southeast of Billett, when ninety years old. In politics he was a Democrat."
