Norma:

Wow! Thanks for all of that great info! It is interesting that, with the exception of the 1870 census, this family consistently used the name LAMONT in civil records and NORMANDIN in church records. Even their marriage is recorded in the Kankakee town records as Michael LAMONT and Balbine PROULX. After they moved to Kansas in 1878 they were always known as LAMONT. There are still three baptisms that I am missing. Their first child, Sophia, was born in Nov, 1855. Their first son Max was born in Sept, 1857. Their next child Agnes was born in July, 1859, but I have not been able to find records for these children. Son Felix was baptised in Mattoon 1861, but I have not found records for the earlier kids. Would Louis PROULX have been in Iroquois County by 1855? If Maxime and Balbine were with Louis in Iroquois where would they have gone to church?
