U.S. States: Illinois: Hancock County
George Fairbairn and Margaret Dinn Fairbairn, both born in Scotland, are both buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, Hancock County, IL. George became a naturalized citizen on March 4, 1863, place unknown. They had two children: William Dinn and Margaret. There is no record of Margaret ever having married.
On 2/26/1869, a William Fairbairn purchased 40 acres of land in Iroquois County, IL. On 10/10/1876, "our" William Dinn Fairbairn married Emma Sly, born 12/09/1855 to Elijah Sly and Martha Cook Sly. There is no record of where the marriage took place or where Emma was born.
I am searching for other records to tie William and Emma to either Hancock or Iroquois counties, such as the birth of their seven children: George, Ida, Fred, James, Mary, John Edward, and Pearl.
Someone did a family history on the Fairbairn family in 1963 but they did not include much, if any information on the spouses, those who married into the Fairbairn family. (That research person is now deceased.) I am just trying to tie up some loose ends. Any assistance would be appreciated, either in searching birth and marriage records on William and Emma and their children -or- giving me the URLs of the various places I can search. Thank you.
