Are you sure about the spelling. There were several Oatman families inLaHarpe, Hancock County about this time. The most famous was Lyman Oatman, a Mormon Brewsterite (spinoff0 who was killed by Indians in Arizona in 1894. At least 3 sons and daughters of the Sperry family married members of the Oatman family. If these names ring a bell, let me know.
