Where do you do research in Hancock County?

My DH's gggrandparents lived in Hancock County Il. in 1860/1880. The census records show they lived in St. Albans township. Where can I find out anymore info? We are thinking of coming to IL in a couple of weeks on vacation. Would like to be able to narrow down where they lived, worked. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help with this.
