John Tally/Talley on Union Co., IL , Kin to Ones in Gallatin County ?
On extra research I have found the following:
In the 1820 Gallatin County census it has Pleasant Talby listed.
The first land grants in Gallatin County:
Pleasant Talley in Bowelsville Township in 1838.
Thornton Tally in Gold Hill Townnship in 1814.
Thornton Tallyland FD NW 14 09S 09E Meridan 3 160 acres on 9 Sep 1814.
William Tally land FD SW 08 09S 09E 3 Meridan 160 acres 31 Oct 1818
In the 1840 Gallatin County census there is a Amos Tally 45 years old but no son named John but one named Thornton.
I am hoping this might mean something to someone. My John Tally is the only one in Union County, Il.

I should add the following to my query below.
There was a John Talley that was baptized in 1841 at the Pisgah Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Gallatin Co., Il. There is also a Susan and Elizabeth Talley listed next with a Pleasant Talley 6 names on down from them.
Also, Bro. John Tally red'd a letter of dismission and recommendation from Pisgah Congregation on the 13th Sept 1842.
This might be my John Tally as he married my Mary Lipe 2 Nov 1843 in Union Co., Il.
Would anyone know who Pleasant Talley is in this church record. ?

My 3rd great grandparents are John Tally/Talley and Mary Lipe. I am attempting to find the parents of John Tally. I descend from their daughter Martha J. Tally that married Samuel Alexander Rinehart that also went by his nickname of Sandy Rinehart in Union County.
John Tally is buried at the top of the hill in Morgan Cemetery in Union Co., IL. His monument gives a birth date of 22 April 1823. He is in the Union County Census in District 2. He married Mary Lipe 2 Nov 1843 in Union Co., Il. She is the daughter of Leonard Lipe, Jr and Catharine Davis of Union County.
John Tally died 15 Mar 1904 in Union County, IL. The 19 Mar 1904 edition of the Jonesboro Gazette states, " John Tally died near Ware, in the bottoms, last Tuesday. He was a very old man, upwards of 90, but his exact age is unknown. He lived in the bottoms as back as 1844 and of course vividly remembered the great flood of last year."
The problem is of dates and locations. In the 1880 Union County census it states John Tally was born in Illinois with both parents born in Tennessee. But his death recordat the Union County courthouse states he was born in Kentucky and he lived in Illinois 6o years.
After Mary Lipe died 16 Dec 1856 in Union County John Tally married Mary Russell ca 1858.
Any other info on John Tally would be very much appreciated.
