Searching for living descendants of John Campbell in and/or around Fayette County, IL. John Campbell (my GGG-Grandfather)was said to have been born in Antrim County, Northern Ireland, immigrated to Tennessee in the early 1800s, and migrated to Fayette County (Wheatland Township) in the 1830s. His wife’s name may have been Mary Hall Neilson and their children were George Washington Campbell (married Minerva Stormer and Elizabeth ((Dunbar)) Elder) , Josephus “Seph” Campbell, Fillmore Campbell, David Campbell (married Sirena Stigall), Polly Campbell (married Philip Ragel), Martha Margaret Campbell (married Adam Kepner), Isabella (married George Myers) and Robert Campbell (married Nancy Fogler). David Campbell (son of John and Mary) was my GG-Grandfather and married Serena/Surena Stigall in Fayette County. Known children of David and Serena/Surena were Thomas, Minerva E. and Frank Campbell. David died in 1905 in St. Elmo, Fayette County, IL. Thomas (son of David and Serena/Surena) was my G-Grandfather and married Eliza May Pinkley in Fayette County. Known children were Arthur, May, Harry R., Earl, Walter, Clarence, William, Vesta, Leo and John F. Campbell. Harry R. Campbell (son of Thomas an d Eliza) was my Grandfather and married Emma Lela Day (from Decatur, Macon County, IL) in Vandalia, Fayette County, IL. They had one child (my father) Virgil Leland Campbell who was born in Decatur, Macon County, IL. The marriage was annulled because Emma was under age and Harry and Emma were officially divorced about 1918. Virgil Leland "Lee" Campbell (AKA Wilson and Elkins) married and divorced my mother. I am their only child. I never personally knew any of the above individuals (including my father and his parents). My grandchildren are asking me about my Campbell family ties and I would appreciate knowing if John Campbell has any living descendants in or around Fayette County, IL in order to make a connection to my family. If you know of, or are a part of this Campbell family line, please contact me. Thank you in advance for any help. Notify Administrator about this message?
