Hi, Charlotte and Nadine!
Since you are both searching for the same information, I am sending this one email.
Nadine, just to bring you up to date with what I have already told Charlotte. William Lamb was a neighbor of the Watts family according to the 1880 census. That is all that I can tell you so far. Charlotte has requested a list of the Lamb children. This is what I have found:
111 111 LAMB William M 57 M Farmer IN NC NC
Mary J. F 57 W M KH IN TN TN
William A. M 17 S Laborer IL IN IN
Susan E. F 15 D School IL IN IN
Thomas M. M 12 S School IL IN IN
Benjamin F. M 9 S School IL IN IN
SHANNON Rebecca F 75 MiL W TN TN TN
114 114 WATTS William M 37 M Farmer IN OH NC
Lucinda F 37 W M KH IN IN OH
Lilly F 14 D School IL IN IN
Thomas M 10 S School IL IN IN
Wyatt M 8 S School IL IN IN
Jennie F 6 D School IL IN IN
Ethel F 3 D IL IN IN
The only thing that I can see that these families have in common (and stands out) is the NC for the parents. Maybe they were cousins? I know, speculation.
Here is something curious from the 1870 census:
24 WATTS William 28 Farm IL
Louisa 24 IL
Elizabeth 4 IL
Do either of you know when your Jane Jenkins was born? Was she Louisa Jane? Did he "E." for Lillian stand for Elizabeth? The ages fit. Just some questions that I thought I would bring up.
Well, good luck and happy hunting. Please let me know of the outcome.
