Hi and yes we have talked before.
I'm hoping to get to Nelson County, Ky.
within the next three weeks. I was there
in November while visiting family North of
Louisville. The weather was really bad so I
didn't get to see much of historic Bardstown.
I did go to Saint Joseph Proto-Catherdral;Erected
1816-1819, in Bardstown.
Prior to Saint Josephs, there was St.Thomas, near
Bardstown. These Catholic Churches were both built with the guidance of Bishop Flaget and
a group of seminarians. Bishop Flaget was appointed in 1808 to the new Catholic Diocese,
which included US land from So. Michigan to
New Orleans. Prior to his appointment a group
of Catholic Missionaries came to the area, this
took place about 1787.
I don't know if you have found out about the
Bodines yet?? We descend from them on the
Rightmire side, Cornelious's Mother was a Bodine
if I am not mistaken. She moved with the family
to Edgar Co.,IL., where another Catholic Church erected in the area they lived.
There is lots of info available on the Bodine
family. There are quite afew Bodines still in the Bardstown area. The name is pronounced Bo-
and the dine, as in dining.
I did ask where Ste. Catherines was when I was
in Bardstown as thats where many of the Wilmouths
Married, etc..,it is in a nearby town and I need
to look up the name of it. Nelson Co. is really
close to Louisville and I'm sure many of our
Ancestors ended up moving there.
