Abiah was actually John's mother, but she was born in Connecticut. She came to IL with John and several of his siblings in the 1840's.
I think that Mary Adda may have been adopted. I have a family story that says so - and I often see Evaline and Edward listed as children, but not her. However, the family story also says that "Eddie" was her natural brother... so I don't know. Adoption records seem pretty scarce at that time.
