I am very interested in sorting our relationships between the Highsmith family in Crawford County, IL and my James Cox line.

James was born in 1799/1800 in NC and was in Crawford County, IL by 1837 when he purchased land there. Neighbors included Nathaniel Highsmith.

When James died in 1858, his daughter, Martha Ellen, who was 3 years old, became the guardian of Abijah Highsmith. Martha Ellen Cox was my great grandmother.

I'm trying to figure out now everybody fits together.
