Seeking descendants of Stephen Shipman 1788-1849; Virginia > Crawford County, IL

Years ago I attempted to gather as many descendants for an Email list of those from Stephen Shipman 1788-1849, who allegedly came from Virginia to Indiana, then on to Crawford County, Illinois at Hardinsville where he and his wife Eleanor died. After establishing a group list, the activity dried up as nothing new could be found and most were frustrated that we could never prove the parentage of Stephen as there were so many contradictory reports. So, most of the contacts we gained, have since changed email addresses, thus I'm currently not been able to reach most of them. The main reason for restarting such a list is the fact that one descendant (from Stephen's son, Jefferson) now has participated in the "Y" chromosome DNA test, and we're wanting to find at least one more male Shipman, but one who descends from one of the brothers of Jefferson to corroborate the DNA test. We're also hoping to use the information to ultimately connect to others with the same DNA markers who descend higher up the tree from Stephen. Appreciate any contacts - Thanks, Allan Griffith, Bloomington, IL -
