Rescued Photos, BEST, MORRIS, WALTERS-Crawford Co. IL

I rescue old photos as a hobby. From an auction in Illinois I obtained boxes of photos and several here are of the John and Mary BEST family.

I do very little or no research on the photos, but have determined that Mary's maiden name was Walters. There is a post mortum photo of Mary at her funeral and propped in her casket is a photo of (I'd guess) her parents. There is also a photo of a man, identified as Grandpa John Walters-and he's the same man in the post mortum photo.

The BEST family took a lot of photos. Reuben Best is in two photos, W.D. Best is in a couple, as a child and with his family, Ethel Best and Polly Best. Minta Best, is another female, identified. One house photo, identifies John and Mary (grandpa and grandma) with Aunt Jane and Uncle Andy MORRIS. Another photo is of Jane and Andy Morris by themselves.

This family must had been well off-(in my opinion). Above the front door of the house (and there are several house photos) is framed the name, John Best. They documented their lives with a lot of photos.

There is also a photo of Lucy WURTZBERGER, and she's identified as John Best's sister.

There's 19 photos of various sizes. Two are post mortum of John and Mary. Two identify a brother of Mary-Ira Walters and wife Lib. Another identifiy Mary E. Walters with her sisters, Rebecca and Jane. (Jane married Andy Morris.)

I'd like them to all go together, but if you only want one line, (Morris, Best, Walters) I can send them out that way.

For details, contact me at:

I only ask what I paid for them, postage and the cost of a sturdy mailer, to keep them safe.

These treasures are rich in information for anyone researching the lines.
