The new stainless steel station house was built in 1957 as part of a modernization effort co-funded by Marshal Field's located at Randolph and Wabash. Macy's is now in the old Marshall Feilds building,Wimpy's had two locaations.between 1914 and 1929the now famous Frango mints brand that became so closely identified with Marshall Field's and Chicago was introduced. Field's candy kitchen at the State Street flagship store soon began producing the confections. There is a great selection for places to eat as well. The Walnut Room is wonderful for special occasions.Seven on State is an innovative and international focused cafe that is perfect for lunch. The food court in the basement is great place to take a break from all the shopping. But you were always tempted buy the candy! Chicagoans still use the famous clock on the building as a meeting place."Meet me at Marshall Field's clock at 4pm!
The Fountain Dinette was located in the Bargain Basement Store on the South State side of the building. Out side of Fields, Wimpy's had two locations. One at the corner of Van Burn and Wabash and the one on Randolph. Hope this help revive some memories. Marshal Fields philosophy was "Give the little lady what she wants," It's staff was trained in manners and approach. Hope this helps stir up some memories. I understand a Marshall Fields museum exist but I have never visited it.
