Kathleen - THANK YOU, SO VERY MUCH. My memory leaks - I had completely forgotten that the 1890 census had been destroyed by fire.I do so appreciate your additional information - much of which I knew and some that I didn't know. Melvin ended up in the Jacksonville Hospital for the mentally disabled where I last found him in the 1930 census. Haven't been able to find his death record beyond that year. I have had tremendous help from volunteers and last year made contact with three cousins in Denmark. My mother was a very little girl when the family broke up and she knew nothing about her family.

Again, my deepest appreciation for your time and effort in providing me with more information.
