I'm looking for descendants of Mary (or possibly called Minnie) (nee Bailey) Becker who first lived in Cook County, IL (Hyde Park) and later in Butler Creek, CA, at least in 1903. Mary was born to Wm. A. and Dr. Anna (Baldwin) Bailey and lived in Chicago where Dr. Anna eventually practiced medicine. Mary had a brother who lived to at least 10 years of age, according to census, but I don't know what happened to him after that. William Bailey eventually dies and Dr. Anna Bailey later adopts my grandfather, who was about 7 years of age then. She changes his name from Robert Steinmeyer to Benjamin Franklin Bailey. This was in 1893. A newspaper article I have shows Dr. Anna Bailey at Mary Becker's home (visiting or living permanently?) at the time of Anna's death in 1903 in CA, and Dr. Anna is buried in a cemetery in Butler Creek there. My grandfather's wedding certificate shows he was married in Beloit, WI in 1908 and Mary Becker, who was a witness, was then back residing in Chicago. I'm hoping this sounds familiar to possible descendants of Mary's who might still be living in CA so I can fill in some more information about Dr. Anna and her family. I'd be more than willing to share what documents I have regarding Dr. Anna.
