TRAIN JOYRIDER HELD IN COURT
Mattoon, Ill., Dec. 26- MAURICE SPURLING, 32, produce company employee who took a Christmas Eve joyride in the Illinois Central locomotive and wrecked a freight train, was arraigned in city court today and bound over to the grand jury.
He was released on $3,000. bond. Railroad officials said SPURLING piloted the locomotive onto the main line, where it crashed headon into a freight train. The crew leaped to safety. Spurling was uninjured. Traffic on the line was delayed 2 hours.
