Ollie,
No, I really don't have any concrete information about where my John C. Richardson's family was from in Virginia.
I found one family tree posted on Ancestry.com that had a Richardson family from Virginia, with children born in Virginia and Ohio, who ended up in Illinois with a brief stint in Kentucky. All of these places add up with what I know from oral history and other sources, dates were good, too. The John C. Richardson on this tree died in Mattoon, IL, which would be correct, also. The father, William Hervey Richardson was born in Waterlick,Warren,VA; mother, Susannah Bowman, Shenandoah,VA. I wrote to the poster a while ago and haven't heard back. I'm also waiting for a copy of Harriet and John's marriage certificate, so I'm in limbo as far as next steps.
Another thing that adds to the puzzle is that in the 1850 census for Shelby County, Illinois, Harriet Wade is living with a John Richardson, 77, born in Pennsylvania, and his wife Margaret. I think this might be her grandfather (relationships aren't listed in 1850). I found an 1836marriage record for Castila Richardson and William Wade; Castila died in 1838, the year Harriet was born. I think Harriet and her husband John C. Richardsonwere cousins of some sort, I don't know how close.
Thanks for your interest in my post.
