Let me refer you to the True Surname Message Board under familyhistory.com. Look at the subject James Madison True posted by Jim Jackson. It lists the descendants of John True, who was born in 1753, and ends with my great-great-grandfather, Thomas True. I have the copies of two wills of Trues. I will look to see if there is anyone named Ellis in either one. I am working on a history of Gen. True, who, besides being a military figure, was an envoy to Canada from 1874 to 1878. I am waiting for his military records to be sent from Washington.
