It's probably just an error in the census - very common in those days. I don't have the 1850 census, but if the kids match up with Samuel & Elizabeth's, it's probably Samuel's family (and for some reason the census taker wrote down Giles by mistake or something like that). I'm not sure if Giles & Nancy were still in Clay County in 1850, but Samuel & Elizabeth were certainly there.
