John Davenport, Clay Co., IL: Physician 1840 & surrounding area

I am seeking information on John Davenport, Physician; and wife "Kitty", Catherine Blan Higgins. I have found him listed in "Brinkerhoff's History of Marion Co., IL."

1850 Census lists him as age 64, b abt 1785. However there are those that say he was born in 1775. He is the son of Adrian Davenport of the Revolutionary War from MD & VA.

I know he left KY after birth of daughter Maria in 1829 and was in IL when daughter Henrietta was born in 1832. There is a John Davenport listed on State Census for Clay Co IL in 1840. Do not know if that is SR or JR,(who was born about 1819/20 per census information).

Son James Alexander Davenport(abt 1823) also became a physician and information is in the DAR for his daughter May Davenport by his 2nd wife.

Does anyone know of a Will or Obit in the newspaper with all children listed.

"Brinkerhoff's History of Marion Co., IL" also lists an Otho Davenport in 1833 with an early school (he was married to Verlinda nee Davenport). And James Davenport 1832 fighting the Indians (Black Hawk & others. They may be brothers of John Davenport, Physician. I am looking for any substantial information, some proof on this family.

Thanks, Sharon Miller Sheridan
