I just recently received a copy of an old photograph that has a Martha Persinger in it. On the back of the picture, it says she was the mother of Merrill/Merrell Wheat. On the front of the picture is the name of the town Seymour, but I don't know if the state is IL or IN. The Wheats were located in Clay Co., IL in the 1800's. My ggreat grandfather, Merrill Wheat, was born in Ingraham, Clay Co., IL in 1877. Have you ever heard of these people associated with your line of Persingers? The Wheats eventually ended up in Jasper Co. and Crawford Co., IL and possible other counties in the surrounding areas. Even though Martha Persinger is said to be the mother of Merrill Wheat, on his obit it says he was raised by an aunt named Fanny and lived on his uncles farm. Does any of that sound familiar?
