I’m seeking the parentage of Johnathan Davis CREATHBAUM born February 8, 1844 in Wheeling, Marshall County, Virginia. Today Wheeling is located in Marshall County, West Virginia.
If anyone lives or has access to courthouse records in OHIO County or MARSHALL County, WEST VIRGINIA or in Richhill Twp., GREENE County, PA, I’d appreciate a lookup for Elias CREATHBAUM to see if he had a will or deed that proves the names of the children of Elias CREATHBAUM & his wife Susanna Kamp / Kemp / Camp.
Or if anyone has access to an obituary for
Johnathan David CREATHBAUM
who died 27 Aug 1892 in Valpariso, Saunders County, Nebraska
or an obituary for Allie CREAKBAUM BUGG
who died 08 Apr 1916 at Taylorville, Christian County, Illinois, I’d appreciate a reply.
Johnathan Davis CREATHBAUM
married January 1, 1869 in Christian County, IL
to Isabella Beck LAWTON.
He is enumerated in the 1870 & 1880 census in Christian County, Illinois
but by 1885, he and his family are enumerated in Saunders County, Nebraska.
I cannot find Johnathan Davis CREATHBAUM in the 1850 or 1860 census
in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Illinois or any other state in the U.S.
nor can I find Allie CREATHBAUM in the 1850 or 1860 census
who I believe could be Johnathan Davis Creathbaum's sibling.
What I need to prove Johnathan Davis CREATHBAUM's parentage is a deed or will recorded in either MARSHALL COUNTY, West Virginia or OHIO COUNTY, West Virginia or a deed or will recorded in Richhill Twp., Greene County, Pa. stating Johnathan Davis CREATHBAUM is the son of .... or an obituary for Johnathan Davis Creathbaum or one of his siblings proving his parentage.
The surname CREATHBAUM could be spelled numerous ways, it seems the census takers and records found in different court houses across the United States did not know how to spell the surname. The surname could be spelled, Creathbaum, Krichbaum, Creekbaum, Crickbaum, Krigbaum, Kriegbaum, Kreigbaum, Krieghbaum, Kreighbaum, etc. etc. This surname has been found spelled over 40 ways in the census and courthouses across America.
I have no proof but I believe Johnathan Davis CREATHBAUM is the
son of Elias CREATHBAUM b. 31 Mar 1819 in Richhill Twp., Greene Co., Pa.
son of Philip CREEKBAUM and Sarah or Susanna (maidenname unknown).
Philip CREEKBAUM was the son of the immigrant Johann Conrad KRICHBAUM and Anna Marie (maidenname unknown).
My reasons for believing Jonathan Davis CREATHABUM is the son of Elias CREATHBAUM are the following:
[1] Johnathan CREATHBAUM spelled his surname CREATHBAUM just like Elias CREATHBAUM did in the 1840 census in Ohio County, Virginia now West Virginia
and Allie CREATHBAUM who I believe to be his sibling.
[2] Johnathan CREATHBAUM was born in Wheeling, Marshall County, Virginia now Wheeling County, West Virginia.
[3] Elias Creathbaum is enumerated in the 1840 census in Ohio County, Virginia now West Virginia. The city of Wheeling where Johnathan Davis CREATHBAUM was born is located in both Ohio County and Marshall County, West Virginia.
[4] Allie CREATHBAUM, daughter of Elias CREATHBAUM, was living in Christian County, Illinois by the time of the 1870 census. Allie CREATHBAUM remained in Christian County, Illinois until her death in 1916. Allie CREATHBAUM married December 21, 1871 Christian County, Illinois to William BUGG.
Because Allie CREATHBAUM and Jonathan Davis CREATHBAUM
both arrived about the same time in Christian County, Illinois
and they both spelled their surname CREATHBAUM, I believe they are siblings.
