I found something else which might belong to you. There is one other marriage in Morgan County for a female Burgess in about the same time frame;
Anna/Nina Burgess to Marshall Raines 30 June 1853.
Marshall Raines was born in Ohio ca 1824. He lived there during the 1850 census and was 26 years old. In 1860 he is alone and working as a day laborer in Sangamon County, IL, aged 37. He must be widowed, because he remarried in 1861 to Mary Jane Robb in Sangamon County and by 1880, he and his family are back in Ohio. The children were all born in Illinois between 1864 and 1880.
Could this first marriage have been to Lydia's mother? She may have died soon after the marriage, leaving Lydia an orphan. Hope this turns out to be a good clue,
