My ancestor, Chambers McLean was in this wagon train. I wonder if anyone else's ancestor went with him? Maybe we could swap info and help build the whole story. "On May 2, 1849 a wagon train of from thirty to thirty-five wagons departed from St. Joseph for California. About one hundred and twenty men and four women were in this train. Most of the company were from Cass County, Illinois with the remainder of the train consisting of two teams from Morgan County, Illinois, two from Hancock County, Illinois, two from Fulton County, Illinois, one from Madison County, Illinois, four from Joe Daviess County, Illinois and seven teams from other parts of the state. There were approximately fifty members of the train from Cass County. Only a portion of the train members are known at this writing and the names are as follows: J.W. Overall G.P. Allin/sic/ Jesse Cross Henry Bomber John Brown Charles M'Crea Henry S. Fitch Henry Harfaclift/sic/ W. Rosenberger George C. Fitch James Jackson Mr. ____ Barnet/sic/(Baranet?) Frederick Krohe(?)(Krobe?) Chambers McLean Conrad File Mr. _____ Bradford George Edgar Mr. _____ Croft (all above from Beardstown, Illinois) Mr. _____Robertson George Edgar John B. Thompson C.
