Chambers Charles McLean was reported as a member of a wagon train bound for the California gold fields in May, 1849. The members of the train, including Chambers McLean, were from Cass County, Illinois. McLean stayed in California for six years and then returned east, according to his obituary. His son, Edward McLean, my ancestor, was born in Illinois in 1862, but his exact birth place is as yet undiscovered. McLean moved to Missouri in the late 1860s and then back to California in the 1880s, where he died in Fresno. Anybody have any info on him or his family? His birth place was variously listed as Pennsylvania or New York.
