Thanks for your offer to assist. I hope you are still able to do this. I am trying to obtain a copy of the wedding certificate for my gr-grandparents, Walter Ross Freeman and Amy Esther Smith. They were in Belvidere and were married in Boone County in 1852.

According to the "Illinois Statewide Marriage Index 1763-1900" they are listed as "Freeman, W. R. and Smith, Esther" married in Boone County on 01/10/1852. Located in vol "00A Lic 00000707".

I wrote to the appropriate County Recorders Office and they just returned my payment and letter stating they have no such record of marriage. How can this be if the index states it is there?

As we live in California, it is most difficult to go to Boone County, Illinois to search for ourselves. Here's hoping and thanking you in advance for any assitance you may be able to give us in obtaining a copy of this license.
