Hi Wes,

My Ike family ancestors are also from the Interlaken area, so we must be related. I have traced the Ike family back to Pennsylvania, but there the trail runs cold, I'm afraid.

My mother's grandmother was Cora Elmira ("Allie") Ike. She was born in 1863. Cora's father was Charles Ike, who served in the Union Army during the Civil War. His parents were John and Anna Ike from Eastern Pennsylvania. Based on some early census data, there was a Paul Ike family in that area of PA, and Paul may have been the father of John.

I believe that the spelling "Ike" may be a version of "Eich." This seems to be a German (Pennsylvania Dutch) surname.

Perhaps your Uncle Joe can confirm my suspicions on this?
