Hi,
I've been working on the parents of Wm. Iiams for a long time, and have found no proof (no disproof, either, I hasten to add) of the contention that his parents were Robert Innes and Grizel Stewart.Robert and Grizel did have a son William (Burke's Peerage, "Roxburghe") but there is no indication of what became of him.I believe that the best way to approach this is to try to find out from the British side what happened to William Innes s/o Robert and Grizel.I've looked for years for the alleged declaration by William Iiams that he was the "son of the Quartermaster General of England," supposedly recorded in MD court records, without success.
I'm interested in your Cheyney information, however.I've never seen anything about the Cheyney line past Richard, and also have his wife as Charity ___.Where did you find her as Mary Charity Wood?Is she allied to other early Wood families of MD?And have you been able to document the earlier generations of Cheyneys in England?
