There were three Iiams [Iams, Ijams], John, Thomas and William that settled in the Ten Mile area [Washington & Greene Co., Pa.]. They each married a Hampton sister. Thomas [Catharine] went on to Belmont Co., Ohio, William [Mary] died in 1795 in Washington Co., Pa. and John [Elizabeth] died in 1823 in Washington Co., Pa. I do not know who lived beside them in the community. Thomas, son of William migrated through Morrow Co., Ohio [I believe] and then to Warren Co., Ohio and up to Shelby Co., Ohio. He died in 1855. As early as 1833, Thomas Iiams and his wife were among those that helped organize the Mt. Gilead M. E. Church, now the Anna M. E. Church in Shelby County, Ohio. Their first meetings were held at the homes of Richard C. Dill and Joseph Park until about 1840. Then they met at the home of Mary J. Young until the completion of the first church, which was a "hewed log structure 30 x 25 feet.". It stood near where the frame church now stands, one-fourth a mile north of Anna, in Dinsmore Township, Shelby Co., Ohio. [Source: History of Shelby Co., Ohio. page 219] Hope this helps. Roberta
