I agree with you, by the way -- I've never found the Innes claim particularly plausible.That being said....
I've also never seen any _primary source_ documentation of the other claim, either -- the one involving Robert I'ans.To my knowledge the Maryland court document which Elisha Iams claimed to have found in which our ancestor William Iiams (or however you like to spell it) declared himself to be the son of the Quartermaster (or Master of Ordinance, once again, depending on whom you believe) has never been found.
I don't want to come off sounding pompous here.I'd love to be proven wrong, and if anyone really does have any primary source support for _either_ claim, I'd really be excited to see it.I've always been fascinated with Cornwall and would be delighted to find out I had Cornish blood.
Does anyone have any primary sources supporting (I won't even use the word "proving") the claim that William was the son of Robert I'ans -- or, furthermore, documentation verifying who Robert I'ans was and where he was from?This includes locating this mysterious MD court document...
