James, thank you for your reply and the interesting info about the homestead and your Dart connection. I am more and more interested in the research of this clan. I have studied the English monarchs at the time of William Iiams's questioned oath about his parentage. Former posts have assumed Queen Elizabeth I to be the Queen referred to in William's statement that his father was Sir Robert I'ans, Master of Ordinance to the Queen. She would never fit the time period of his life-her rule ended in 1603. The monarchs that William Iiams lived under were Charles I until 1649; (then there was the Oliver Cromwell period 1649-1660); then Charles II 1660-1689 and finally the two who ruled together-William III and Mary II who reigned from 1689-1702. Sir Robert could have been in the court of Mary II. Another Queen -Anne's reign started in 1702 the year before William died in 1703. Given all that, there were two Queen's William could have been referring to: Queen Mary II or Queen Anne. What do you think?
