Hello, I'm Mike Hudson, gg grandson of Ruth Igo. The 1860 Census of Jefferson Co. AL lists: Joseph Igo, 49, Velvaridda, 47, Eliza 22, Ellenda 16, James 14, Ruth J 12, Florina 10, and Joseph 7. John & Statie were listed separately because they were married and living elsewhere - he was 19. A Susan E., 21, was also listed with John & Statie. Flora married Rufus Harding, brother of James F Harding who married Ruth, in December 1868. That's in Jefferson Co. marriage records. Both James & Rufus served in the Civil War, were captured in the Battle of Cassville GA, and served time as POWs at Rock Island Barracks, Ill. I have long wondered the question of where the Hardings are all buried. Ruth's daughter Beatrice came back to the Birmingham area. I wonder why - and why Ruth & James left? I lived in Birmingham until 1984 - mom & dad still live there. Mike Notify Administrator about this message?
