Spanish Descent

Has anyone successfully (or unsuccessfully) connected the Igo family to the sailors of the Spanish Armada of 1588? I've heard many theories on the name and the ones that make the most sense (at least for my branch of the name) are those that include sailors of the Spanish boats that sunk during the Armada off the Western Coast of Ireland (where my line is from). I realize that 1588 is quite a way back but any thoughts on this possibility is greatly appreciated.
