Idle, Idol, Idail of York County Pennsylvania

I need help with James Idle of York County. He was born between 1790 and 1800 in Pennsylvania. He had four sons and one daughter. Based on census data there are three possible candidates for his sons, Francis b. 1816, James, b. about 1820, William b. about 1833. Unfortunately I can not find him in the 1850 census. But he re-appears in 1860 and his name was spelled Idail.

My wife's gg grandfather was Washington Idail. He was born in Pennsylvania but never appeared on any census prior to his death. He married in Clinton County Indiana, 1858, in the same district, Ross Township, that Francis (now Franklin) and his family settled. I have to believe that there was some family connection between Franklin and Washington. Anyway, this is one of very few families in which some converted their surname to Idail.
