Interesting - afraid until you can get your connection back to the UK, where Im sure they came from, I wont be able to help very much. The christian name strongly suggests a french connection, do you know of one? Some of my Idle ancestors lived in Paris in the Rue Lafayette 1830s -1860s and one of them emigrated to Australia where there is now a large branch. Keep in touch, if I can help I will. (The family were extremely wealthy at that time and much of the money was lost thro gambling etc.they were wine & brandy merchants) Paul
