I found another Iddings mystery that I thought you would be interested in (and I'm hoping that you have an answer for! :-). It is generally accepted that Lewis Iddings, born September 5, 1830 the son of James and Jane Iddings, Sr who are listed on the 1850 census of Elk County, Fox Twp., PA was married to Jane B. Rogers. (Lewis himself is NOT found on this particular census. However, his Uncle Lewis Iddings, the physician, is found living in Jay Twp., Elk Co., PA in 1850) Anyway, Lewis's wife's name is given as Jane B. Rogers, born circa 1836, the daughter of Uriah and Hannah (Rogers) Rogers, also found on the 1850 census in the above location. In fact, Uriah has a 14 year old Jane B. Rogers living with him on the 1850 census of Fox Twp., Elk Co., PA. There is also a Jane B. Iddings buried in the Ridge Cemetery in Fox Twp with a birth date of August 8, 1835 (No death date). I believe this to be Jane B. (Rogers) Iddings but I am holding off until I find out for sure. However, in a will I found at the Elk County Courthouse, there is a John Horning, a contemporary of James Iddings, Sr, who names his children in his will as follows: (48) Will of: John Horning Residence: Fox Township, Elk Co., PA Written: 4/9/1867 Proved: 9/10/1870 Mentions: Says he is “of Lower Augusta Township, Northumberland Co., PA.” Son William W. Horning; grandson John B. Horning; wife Polly P. Horning; son Elias Horning. Five daughters: Catherine Miller, Jane Iddings, Elizabeth C. Early, Esther Emigh, Sarah Lucore, wife of Rufus Lucore. Executor(s): Elias Horning Witnesses: Abraham Shipman, John H. Shipe The Jane (Horning) Iddings named above would have been around the same age as Jane B. (Rogers) Iddings, but I can't place who she may have been married to. Can you clarify which Iddings Jane (Horning)Iddings may have been married to?
