Nope, Rhodes wasn't the killer.
Ogden Standard Examiner 4/8/1938
Boise, ID- The killing of P. J. McCarthy, 29, whose body was found in the sagebrush near Rupert, Idaho, last May 31, remained today as far from solution as ever after the failure of development of new clues.
Police Chief J. Emer Harris said Charles (Dusty) Rhodes, 42, of Meridan, questioned this week by Cassia and Bannock county authorities in connection with the slaying, was a patient at the U. S. veterans' hospital from April 18 to June 15 and at the time of the killing.
