John J. Knowlton, filed a Civil War pension application as an invalid on 8/1/1891 in Montana.

Mary C, widow of John J. Knowlton filed a widow's pension application on 7/1/1903 in Idaho.

John J. Knowlton was in Co. I, 29th Wisconsin Infantry. He enlisted on 8/20/1862 and mustered out on 6/22/1865 at Shreveport, LA. Rank at enlistment - corporal. He was a resident of Rubicon, Wisconsin.

He was born in the town of Wales, Erie County, NY on 7/17/1841, came to Wisconsin in 1860.
