Here is what I found on the Kaiser family:

They lived at Gleucksthal, Russia, prior to their immigration to America. They sailed from Antwerp, Belgium, on the SS Vaderland on 7 Dec. 1901, arriving in New York on 17 Dec. Family members who came were Joseph, 47, Katherina, 46, Katharina, 21, Friedrich, 20, Christian, 19, and Rosina, 8. Some online sources list additional children: Christoph, b. 1877, Rosina, b. 1879, Joseph, b. 1884, and Jacob, b. 1885. They settled in the James River area of North Dakota. Assuming they filed a homestead declaration, the exact location should be on file at the county recorder's office, probably Stutsman Co. Christoph immigrated to America in 1900, arriving in New York on 27 Jul. 1900 on the SS Grosser Kurfurst. Christoph married Katherine Miller, died in 1950 at Lodi, CA, and she died in 1934. They are buried at Miller Cemetery, Logan Co., ND. Christian married Elizabeth Miller. He died in 1944, and she died in 1940. They are buried at Miller Cemetery in Logan Co., ND. Friedrich (Frederick) married Katherine Braunstadter. He died in 1959, and she died in 1987. They are buried at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck, ND. Katherine and Elizabeth were sisters. Younger Rosina married Christian Schmierer and died in 1918. She is buried at Gleucksthal Cemetery in Kidder Co., ND. Christian remarried Christina Orth. He died in 1958 and is buried at Tappen Cemetery, Kidder Co., ND. One of Rosina's children, also named Christian, moved to Canyon Co. and is buried at Hillcrest Cemetery. No information on daughter Katharina. A person might find something in the obituaries of other family members. I assume elder daughter Rosina and sons Joseph and Jacob all died in Russia.

Neither Joseph or Katherina was listed in the North Dakota Death Index, which puzzled me, and I tried several different spellings of the name. Joseph reportedly died in 1905. Katherina died in 1913 and is buried at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Kidder Co, ND. There is a Joseph Kaiser listed on page 112 of the Index to Rural and Village Cemeteries of Stutsman County, and I believe that's the right man. More detailed information comes with a price, but it's nominal - just a few dollars. Your friend would have to contact:

or e-mail George Barron: gbarron@daktel.com. George Barron is the man who compiled the index.

Best regards,
Mary
