Very limited and un-sourced information gives my maternal grandfather, Robert Milton Grant, as having been born in 1886, possibly in Union, Oregon. He married Camille Davis in 1907. A 1920 census places them in Tacoma Ward 3, Washington state, but indicates his age as being 84, which would have had him born in 1836. I believe this is an error. Several entries in the LDS geneology archives have conflicting information about him. She was born in 1890 in Ovid, Idaho. My mother, Javon Camille Grant, was born in Nyssa, Oregon in 1912. Family stories say that he was an investment banker of Scottish descent and that they traveled a lot. He was an alcoholic, but had maintained sobriety. A business partner had a clause in a contract that would nullify the partnership if he started drinking again. When their business deal became successful he took my grandfather out to celebrate and bought him a drink. That probably led to more and the partnership was legally dissolved; my grandfather lost millions and himself. The next document locates my grandmother and her teenage daughter living in a boarding house in Salt Lake City. I know that he had left them and was possibly divorced by then. At some point in time Mrs. Grant started a dress shop in Boise, Idaho and sold it later. "Camille's" is still in business. She told me that he was killed by a truck while living in an urban skid row somewhere in ~Feb 1935. He had nicknames: Cajacob or Cujacks. Nothing else is known. He is not the Robert Grant of Missouri.
