Diana,
The sugar factory at Nampa Idaho is called the Amalgamated Sugar Company. At the time of the expansion of the plant, the Germans came over to help our people learn how to run it properly. My husband was one of the men that were trained under the supervision of the Germans. He ran the control room for the whole factory after that. I have the 1970 report booklet showing my husband doing his job, running the control panels. It is sad to say but a lot of the workers there treated the Germans unkindly. Before they left, they asked my husband to eat with them and then presented him with a minature set of clippers and file. It was a very nice gesture. Jack appreciated it.
