Susie.. We all grasp at straws, however, I don't think we are related in any way. All of William Hiram Smiths children came with him to Idaho in 1878, two were born in Idaho. I don't believe any went back to Kansas. As for David being a brother, it is doubtful, as I just found a "documentary" written by one of W.H. Smith's sons in 1965, (he was 80 years old) that said his father (WH) left the family homestead at age 21 to strike off on his own in Kansas. William H's father had remained at the homestead that was in Va. and that it had been in the family for over 200 years at that time. William H. went back one last time to Va. in about 1900 to see his family, then never went back. That is not to say that "David" could not have been a brother to William H., but not if he was born in Pa. Sorry.. I'm kinda rambling, but I really don't think there is a relationship there. Keep hunting, and when I get back from vacation..I'll do some double checking. Dianne
