According to “A Historical Sketch of Johnson County, Indiana”, published in 1881, Berryman Carder was one of several families who came to Johnson County from Kentucky. It is likely that he is from one of the Carder families who migrated from Culpeper County, Virginiato Oldham County, Kentuckyaround 1820, which included Burkett Carder, John Carder, and Franklin Carder. He is too old to be a son of Burkett Carder, but it is possible that one of the other Carders in the group was his father.Berryman’s wife Margaret was born in Kentucky.
