His only sibling was William Henry Michael (1847-1929).My desecent is traced through Edwin's brother William Henry Michael, his son Loren Porter Michael (1874-1946) and his grandson Robert E. Michael (1917-1994).
Edwin attended school in Westville, La Porte County. He was a teacher in LaPorte and LakeCounty for 4 years. He served in Civil War 1862-65, Company A, 99th IndianaInfantry. He married Thirsa H. Dyer in Wheaton, Du Page Co., IL 15 Feb. 1866 http://www2.sos.state.il.us/cgi-bin/marriagehttp://www2.sos.state.il.us/cgi-bin/marriage. Thirza was also a teacher.

He married Esther Mary Anderson (1893-1956) of Murray, Salt Lake Co., UT. Their son, James Richard Gerrish, b. July 12, 1922.
Earl J. Michael who married a Mabel EmilyROWLES (1882-1965) and operated a mining supply store in Bay Horse, ID.(Challis, ID) They had a daughter Irene MICHAEL, b. Challis, ID 1904.
Irene may have married a member of the PEIFFER family of Challis, ID. The Pfeiffers laterowned resort cabins at Big Sur, CA. Gladys and Bunny are name associated with the Pfieffers.

Julia M. Michael. She was also educated in Hammond and taught school in Bay Horse, ID andLowell, IN. By 1929 she was married to a Mr KOBELIN and living in Crown Point, IN.
Edwin Michael lived in Bay Horse, near Chalice, ID from about 1890-1905. He returned to Lake County, IN and died there 27 Apr. 1909.
