I saw your post and would like to exchange info. with you. Your William Wesley Crawford was the son of James R. Crawford, who I think is the son of James Crawford of Coles County, Illinois. I am trying to chase down information to prove that link. If you go to the genealogy trails web site for Coles County, Illinois, you will see James Crawford and a J.R. Crawford. James R. Crawford married Rebecca Lukeheart (spelled Lookhart in the IL marriage records). Around 1855 they moved to Jefferson Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa. James R. Crawford's wife's people lived in Winterset, Madison County, Iowa. (listed as Jacob Luckhart and Rebecca Chambers) James R. Crawford and wife Rebecca Lukeheart had the following children: George A., Eliza A., William Wesley, Martha J., Rachel L., Charles J., Ruth E., and Melissa C..
