Died
At her home on Capital Avenue, Sunday morning at 7:00, Mrs. Sarah Smith, an old resident of Idaho Falls. Funeral arrangements will be announced later, pending the arrival of a daughter.
Idaho Falls Daily Post, May 16, 1917 (Pg 1):
"Sarah E. Smith, Pioneer and Christian, is Dead"
Sunday morning at 7:00 o clock occured the death of Sarah E. Smith. Pioneer, neighbor and Christian worker.
The funeral will be held from the Methodist tabernacle Thursday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Wemett officiating.
Sarah Ellen Bradt was born in the village of Hartford, N.Y., Aug. 2, 1845. A few years later the Bradt family moved to Macedo, N.Y. where on Oct. 13, 1868, she was married to Theron J. Smith. In the spring of '69 the young couple moved to Lake City, Iowa, and lived there till 1887, when they came to Idaho Falls, where Mrs. Smith has lived eversince. She was the mother of six children, Edna and Edwin, twins, Mary Ellen, Lewis Mott, Elvira Ann and Theron James. Three of these children with eight grandchildren and one great grandchild survive her. The children are L. M. Smith, of filer, Mrs. W. S. Jackson, of Grangeville, and Mrs. Robert Milligan of this city.
Mrs. Smith was among the pioneer women of this locality, having arrived here when Idaho was still a territory and Idaho Falls was called Eagle Rock. She has been a devout worker in the cause of religion and has been a familiar figure in Methodist church circles since the church was first organized in this city. The present Ladies' aid of the Methodist church owes its origin to five women, Mrs. Smith being one of the five. The other four charter members were Mrs. Dr. Wilson, Mrs. W. H. B. Crow, Mrs. Hardman, and mrs. Jennie Wood. Mrs. Wilson is now the only surviving member who resides in Idaho Falls.
Mrs. Smith was a woman greatly liked and admired by her many friends. Of a sweet and mild disposition, her kindness to the sick, her neighborliness, her unassuming Christianity and unswerving piety leave many to mourn her loss.

"T. J. Smith Dead"
T. J. Smith, formerly a resident of Idaho Falls, died at his home in California Friday night, according to word received by relatives here. The deceased was the father of Mrs. Robert Milligan of this city, and an uncle of Mrs. Sam Dennis. He left Idaho Falls about 15 years ago to make his home in California.
