There were two obits, one on July 1, 1960 and the other on July 6, 1960 in "The Post Register" newspaper in Idaho Falls:
"Local Railroad Man Dies"
Leon Clerc Ross, 70, a retired railroad telegrapher and station agent of this area, died at his home, 312 Gladstone St., Thursday evening. He had been ill for several months.
He was born april 10, 1890, at Gandyville, W. Va., and was the son of Dr. Phillip and Leona Wolf Ross.
In 1895 the family moved to Decatur, Neb., and later to Sedgwick, Ark. When 16, they moved to Bloomfield, Okla. In 1910, he started work for the railroad at Mulvane, Kas. In 1912 he came to Lima, Mont., where he worked for the local railroad.
He has worked in this area since that time until his retirement four years ago. He has served as station agent at Spencer, Iona, Driggs and Blackfoot. For several years, he was a telegrapher at the Idaho Falls station.
In 1917, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the sixth field signal b attallion and he served in France for over a year. He was discharged in 1919 as a sergeant, and reentered the service in World War II in 1941. There he served as an instructor for officers' cadidates school. He was discharged in July, 1945, as a major.
On Nov. 28, 1921, he was united in marriage to Miss Idona Alice Hill of Idaho Falls. They were married at Rexburg.
He has been an active American Legion member, and while living at Driggs he served as commander of M. A. Hulet Post 95. He was a member of the order of Railroad Telegraphers, BPO Elks Lodge 1087, and Reserve Officers Assn.
Survivors are his wife, Idona Ross of Idaho Falls; two sons, Shirly J. Ross of Boise, and Don C. Ross of Portland, Or.; six grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Nellie Snodgrass, Tulsa, Okla.
Funeral services will be announced later by Buck's Funeral Home.
