I was just searching the 1850 census, and I came across a HEYKES family. It occurs to me that HEYKES could be a plausible spelling variation of ICKES. So, for the record...

1850: PA: Union [now Snyder] Co.: Perry Twp.: pp. 114A-114B (208/208) -- all born in Pa:

William Heykes 41 M Farmer
Esther Heykes 39 F
Edward Heykes 17 M
William Heykes 15 M
Mary Heykes 12 F
Elias Heykes 10 M
Caroline Heykes 9 F
Fanny Heykes 7 F
Sarah Heykes 6 F
Hanah Heykes 4 F
Levi Heykes 3 M
Susanah Heykes 2 F
William Longanecker 38 M

I have no additional information on this family.
