Peter Jokull (Pjetur Pjetursson)
Looking for information on Peter or (Pjetur) Jokull (also known as P.P. Jokull). Here is the background: his grandson was reported to be the 7th Peter, son of Peter, so he (P.P. Jokull), must have been the 5th in the line. Here is where it gets complicated - According to Icelandic custom, they must all have been Peterssons - or probably Pjeturssons. His first wife, Sigriður (birth date unknown), was a sister of Solveig Jonsdottir (1862), my mother's paternal grandmother, and also had two brothers - Metusalem (1851) and Guðjon (1858). (Solveig married Þorstein Þorsteinsson, from Nýibær, who was a son of Þorstein Sigurðsson and Guðny Olafsdottir). Their father was Jon Sigurðsson (1824), and Jon's parents were Sigurður Jonsson and Sigurborg Sigurðardottir. In the immigration list, there are 2 people by the name of Sigriður Jonsdottir who emigrated from Vopnafjordur, at different times.Questions: When did Peter Jokull (Pjetur Pjetursson) emigrate? Was he married at the time, or a single man? When did Solveig Jonsdottir emigrate? Was she married or single when she emigrated?
